Battery backup sump pump systems are a necessary add-on for any basement to help protect it from flooding. A basement with a primary pump by itself is more likely to eventually flood. A sump pump can stop working due to a mechanical failure caused by normal wear and tear, a float switch gone bad or due to the loss of power. Power outages are most likely to occur during a heavy rainstorm, which is obviously the worst time you’d want to lose your power and the functionality of your sump pump.
